Four to Keep Your Eye On!

hello, everyone!  Time again for me to pass along some amazing music to your waiting ears!

This time, I'm mentioning a few awesome artists, and of course, you can count on seeing their music players below!

The first comes from across the pond- England, that is.  Her name is Neme, and her music and fantastic!  She's an up and coming rap artist who released an amazing album, "The Cube of Life," back in 2009.  Now, she's back in the studio working on a brand new album, which is SURE to bring some serious fire!  I definitely recommend checking out the hit single from that album, "Sacrifice."  The video is up on YouTube- And you know I got your back on this...  Watch it right here, so you ain't gotta go anywhere!

Now, flipping things up just a little bit, we're going to jump genres and dive right into the next group- That's right: Group.  So far, all I've reviewed have been solo artists, but these guys DESERVE the recognition!  Originally called "Covered In Scars," they had to change their name due to some disenfranchised losers...  That's my personal opinion on the situation, of course.  Now known simply as CoveredScars, they are still making waves!
They just played a show in Chattanooga, Tennessee- Opening for none other than Killinger and... STRYPER!  Yeah, you read that right.  These guys are going places, folks, so jump on the fan wagon now, before there's no room left.  Let me put this another way.  When Michael Sweet hears your demo and demands you open the show, well...  There's nothing else left to say but "sign me up."

Next up is a band that currently sits at number five on the Electronica charts in Toledo, Ohio.  With three themed albums under their belts, these guys have been there, and done that.  Add to this the fact that they crafted nine independent radio singles, two of which reached top ten.  Further, consider also the fact that the song "I'm A Pop Star" stayed in the top ten for six weeks, and remained in the top forty for over three months.  These guys have experience- And their name is Midiboy.

I highly recommend heading over to their page, and jumping on board with them- But wait until you're done reading this!

Finally, hailing from Concord, New Hampshire, is Azure Cross.  These guys play Blues Rock like few independent artists I've heard.  Their lyrics are thoughtful and insightful, and their music is true to their roots.  Definitely check these guys out, and if you'll be in New Hampshire October 15, check them out at Nashua Harley for the American Cancer Auction.

I do hope to have a more in depth interview for each of these artists, and so many more, but for now- As promised- Here is where you can check the music for yourself.

Lauren Light

Lauren Light is a talented young woman from North Carolina that has one obvious goal in life - to be the best. When you listen to her music, it conjures thoughts of Fiona Apple, Alanis Morrissette, and the best of the of the nineties.

Recently, I was able to interview this amazing young woman. Originally, I was going to pen this article using the interview to draw upon; however, she's such an amazing artist, I may have to include parts of it!

When I first heard her work, I was listening to Saint Warhead. I was floored at the raw power in her voice, and immediately looked her up. When I listened to her own music, I was not disappointed. Far from it; I was blown away. Lauren has a way of taking the things life has to offer, and crafting songs that encourage and uplift in those trying times.

Whether encouraging her listeners to do the right thing in a hard situation, or lifting their spirits during times of despair, Lauren has the gift: The ability to connect and make a difference.

R.E.T.S.: Your song "Stay With Me" is amazing. No wonder you chose that one for your first video! What went into the at song?

L.L.: A lot went into this song, and it relates to me the most out of all the songs I have written. I actually put a big piece of myself out there for the world to see. And that’s why I’m really glad everyone has gotten so much from it. And then Filming the Music Video was awesome, it really brings the song to life.

R.E.T.S.: "Get Me Out" is a song very reminiscent of Fiona Apple and the style of music which came out of the late nineties. Is there a story behind that one?

L.L.: Yes I’ve been told that. And Yes There is a story behind this song, I won’t go into to much detail because I actually wrote it about someone I knew who parents were going through a divorce. No one would have guessed from the outside what was going on inside there own house. A lot of people really seem to relate to it and others fit the lyrics to there own situations. It was a song topic I always wanted to write and address.

R.E.T.S.: "Out of the Picture" is one of my personal favorites- The level of energy is palpable. How did you come to write that song?

L.L.: Thanks! I actually wrote this one about a friend too, that I kept trying to convince her the guy she was madly in love with was only semi interested in her. He would give her all this attention and they were really close but as soon as anyone else came around or any other girl he would completely ignore her. It was a roller coaster of emotions for her, and I thought how can she one day be in the picture and the next out. And the words just came.

Lauren Light is an amazing artist who is educated, talented, and fully deserving of the recognition she has, and will, receive. She's also a piano player, an artist capable and willing to collaborate with others. Additionally, she has a bit of advice for those who are working to make their own dreams reality:

...I would give the advice never give up on your dreams, but always make sure you are pursuing them… Opportunities don’t fall in your lap you have to make them happen.

Saint Warhead

Hello all! R.E.T.S. coming to you again for another, long overdue, dose of awesome music.

Once again, I'm coming to you to promote some amazing Indie music that just doesn't seem to be nearly as appreciated as it should be. Today, I'll be reviewing Saint Warhead.

This is a young man whose talents are on par with some of the biggest names in mainstream Christian rap music today- Not to mention mainstream in general. His music is excellent, and his lyricism is extraordinary. When you listen to his songs, you hear the man's soul being poured out into the music. This is something that is seriously lacking in most music of this genre lately.

Take his latest single, Gotta Get Away. Joining forces with another fantastic artist, Lauren Light, this song speaks to the need to be unique in a cookie cutter world. The issues that can befall an artist willing to stand on his own are many. For those few who refuse to do something just because everyone else is doing it, labels are quickly applied, and too often they are less than complimentary.

Then there's the single Off My Chest. This song is talking about his own personal testimony, a thing of beauty in and of itself. In his own words "If I die tonight, then the good don't die young." The emotion within this song is evident, and by using his own voice for the chorus just pushes that envelope.

Finally, check out Clear Sound. Talk about remembering your chains! This is one young man who does not forget where he came from. Given this fact, I truly believe this is an individual that will go far. Only those who remain grounded are able to fly. One of the biggest issues with songs like this one is the feeling that you're listening to someone talk about a movie, rather than a part of their own life. Not so with this joint.

In closing, I urge you to check out Saint Warhead. I've only reviewed a few of his songs, and he's got more on profile which I'll link to in a moment. For the time being, chill and listen. You will be glad you did!

Intro

Well, it has happened. I did not think I would find a book that would ignite my passion for reviewing literary works, but I have found it, read it and have decided to review it. Even more than that, however, I have been inspired to form a new "blog" solely for the sake of reviewing great books. You can thank someone very near and dear to me for that idea!

Thus it is with a joyous heart I wish to introduce my latest blogs- Words of Worth, Feature Films, and Must Have Music.

Remember, the original blog is Renegade's Rants. That having been said, let the games begin!!
